What could be as better holiday weekend dessert than a luscious Tree-Top Upside-Down Cake. Choose your favorite: Pineapple, Marionberry, Italian Plum or Nectarine. Any way you'll get a delicious moist vanilla cake, fruit of your choice and a rich caramel glaze topping.
Vicky Brown... The Little Brown Farm
Little Brown Farm introduces another new cheese!
The Little Brown Farm has had a busy year! We have introduced 2 new cheeses (Caprizella and Velvet Rose) and 2 styles of yogurt (traditional and creamline) and now we’re at it again. My favorite girl, Velvet Rose has a daughter, Saratoga Satin, named after a lovely white rose. Now we have a fresh, bright white cheese named after Velvet’s girl. Saratoga Satin is a fresh, handpressed cheese that slices and melts well – perfect for cold and warm sandwiches, casseroles, pizza, tacos and more! Saratoga will be very limited and only available intermittently through the end of October, come and sample it this weekend! While you’re there, don’t forget to pick up some Caprizella to go with the luscious heirloom tomatoes in bounty right now – Caprese never tasted so good! Learn more about the farm at www.littlebrownfarm.com and follow us on facebook (www.facebook.com/littlebrownfarm – we post cute baby goat pics & videos too!) and twitter @littlebrownfarm to stay updated!

Pam Mitchell...Pam's Place Produce
A cornucopia of vegetables, salads and small fruits adorn the table in time for the long weekend’s festivities! Setting a personal record this year, I’ve managed to keep the snap peas coming in until Labor Day, so you can have fresh peas along with colorful cherry tomatoes in your salads. The salad mix now has two sizes to choose from; 1/2-lb and 1/4-lb quantities to suit your needs.
If you get the cool-weather transplants into the garden in the next week, you’ll have some great fall harvests of kales, chards, broccoli, cauliflower, bok choy, cabbage and lettuce, and leeks planted out now will be established enough to go through the winter and add a wonderful zing to those early spring soups and stews.
See you at the Bayview Farmers’ Market on Saturday from 10am to 2pm, and at the Greenbank Farm on Sunday from 11am to 3pm.
For pre-orders, please email me by end of day Friday at pamsplaceproduce@whidbey.com.
