More Keeping It Local

Music This Week...

Slap Happy
An acapella quartet of young men from Whidbey who will be wandering minstrels through the market--excellent voices and performance--you'll definitely want to hear them!

 Shirlee Read.... The Kitchen Door
Delicate and delicious Pear/Raspberry or Pear/Ginger Pie is featured this week at the booth Pie for Breakfast Lunch and Dinner, along with other fruit pies guaranteed to please the palate. Also on the specialty list, Raspberry/Blueberry Cream Cheese pie. If you're looking for a savory option, you will also find Caramelized Onion or Garden Vegetable quiches and frozen Down Home Chicken or Classic Meat pies at this booth, all made entirely from scratch by pie maker, Shirlee Read.

Pam Mitchell... Pam's Place Produce
Along with lots of produce each week, I’m bringing plant starts that you can put out in your gardens this month and even early next month for a fall harvest – all the way into November, if we have the same pattern as last year, with the first freeze coming at Thanksgiving. Plant starts include Napa Cabbage, Curly and Romaine Lettuce, Broccoli, Cauliflower, Leeks, Kale, Chard, Tatsoi, Bok Choy and Basil. The Basil can be planted to a larger container, and then brought inside as the nights cool down. A good way to keep a moist environment around a basil plant is to stand the container in a saucer filled with pebbles and water. When watering basil plants, use warm water so as not to slow or stop the growth process.
Hope to see you at the Bayview Market on Saturday or the Greenbank Market on Sunday.
Nancy Mayes... Blue Bay Jewelry
